so i'm back from the city of the salty lake and good Lord it was hella cold out there. the kind of cold that makes you want to move to florida cold. but then i'd just be complaining about how hot it was, so i'll just stop crying about the weather and get to the good stuff about all the fun that was had over the weekend. this trip was a ridiculously good time.
i got out there friday afternoon about 3:00pm and right away i knew this trip was gonna be interesting. i get into the cab at the airport and give the address to the cab driver for jeff's house. this dude, who spoke broken english at best, looks at me like i have a horn growing out of my forehead. he had no idea how to get there, and neither did i, but he's the cab driver for crying out loud. we made it to jeff's, but it was an interesting ride none the less. that night we pretty much hung out around the house, ate pizza, drank a few beers and told stories that made fun of someone in the room. good times.
saturday jeff, camille, their friend sonya, brian and i went to breakfast at the blue plate diner. it was a really cool old style diner with really good food. and they had a johnny cash action figure hanging on the wall, which i should have tried to purchase but didn't. after breakfast we headed back to the house and proceed to watch the office season 1 and a little bit of season 2. i love that show, it's by far the funniest show on tv right now. on par with seinfeld for situational comedy. we also played some fifa 06 soccer on ps2 with four people playing. i'm not really a soccer fan at all, but that's a pretty cool multi-player game. saturday night we went to the blue iguana for dinner. pretty good mexican food right near the giant mormon temple in downtown salt lake. after dinner, we went back to the house and drank some beers, martinis, woodford, or white russians and hung out.
sunday jeff, camille, brian, dave, justin, jenn, scott, and cheryl all went skiing again and i did absolutely nothing all day but watch football and finish the rest of the dvds for the office season 2. it was relaxing and incredibly funny. sunday evening we ate dinner at the porcupine grille and watched the pats/chargers game and sampled their microbrews. really cool place to eat and hang out. and that night we played catan for the first time. justin won, but i'd have my revenge in the very near future.
monday most people had left or were leaving by mid morning. dave and i's flight didn't take off until 3:00pm, so guess what we did. that's right more catan, and this time i was the victor. i'm not usually a board game kinda guy, but this game is exceptionally fun and challenging at the same time. take it from me, who hates almost all games of any kind that aren't of the video persuasion, try it some time. after that we flew home in time for me to hang out with kim a little bit and get ready for work on tuesday. kim was really disappointed she couldn't go, but she had a counseling seminar all weekend. she loves to ski. there's always next year babe.
this long weekend trip is always one of my favorite trips i take during the year. i'm already looking forward to next year. definately good times....
