it has been dog years since i updated this sucker, so my apologies to all of you that live and die with the amount and quality of my posts. :) if that was the case you'd all certainly be dead by now, but i digress. this one could be a long one and with no real discernible order.
last friday we had our first softball game playing for crestview(
jason's church). it was a spectacular time and we even won. i had a hit and a walk and even scored a run. to be honest it was really fun to just get out and run around a little bit and to do something competitive. our next game is this friday at keehner park in west chester at 6:15 if any of my droves of fans want to come out and watch.
after the game we went to roger and megans for a cookout and thats where the real adventure of the night started to unfold. after eating a few hot dogs, burgdorf and i decided to throw the baseball around a little bit. i kid you not, on the second throw he stepped in a hole and sprained his ankle really badly. i mean, it turned the size of a grapefruit badly. after about a half hour of him trying to tough it out, i took him to the jewish hospital at about 9:15pm(mark that down, it will be important later in the story). we get to the er and there's only a few people waiting and we get checked in pretty quickly, cool right, this is going to be fast. WRONG, after he get his x-ray we wait in the waiting room for about an hour(10:30pm) for an exam room to open up. when one finally does, mind you it's called a "fast track room", we wait about another hour(11:30pm) for the doc to come in, the nurse to bring crutches and some meds. after the doc comes and leaves for the first time we wait about another hour(12:30am) for her to come back and say it's not broken and that he needs to see a specialist( thanks for that doogie houser). then we wait another forty five minutes(1:15am) to get the discharge papers and leave. all the while this high school boy in the next bed over is arguing with his mom about why he should be allowed to drop out of high school. that was actually entertaining. thank goodness that they gave burg a vicodin about two hours in or he wouldn't have been able to keep me from torching that place. it was actually a pretty cool time though for he and i to sit around and shoot the bull. plus i know if the situation had been reversed, he'd have sat there all night with me. all in all it wasn't that bad i guess.
saturday night kim and i, along with
justin,
jenn, ryan and abby, went to burg's for fondue.
wiedemann was flowing along with the cheese and chocolate fondues. good times catching up with folks that i wish that i made more of an effort to hang out with more often. really good times.
and the carpet has finally been installed in our basement. after a somewhat harrowing time getting it ordered, getting them to our house and getting them to finish it is finally done. we saved a lot of cash, but i might think twice about using this guy again. if you're not on a time table(we weren't), he has great prices but is a little flaky.
