I'll tell the maitre'd it'll just be the three bulls

Kim and I had a really good time on vacation in NC with my family. Very relaxing and low key. It was good to see my whole family, because with everyone living out of town we don't get together very often. Other than a few scraps you'd expect from people that haven't all lived together for 9 years, a good time was had by all. Played golf a few times, ate awesome seafood, and kicked it on the beach. I even suceed in getting my brother hooked on pipe smoking. He ended up taking my old corn cob pipe and some tobacco home with him. We did end up sitting in the airport for a while yesterday when our flight home was delayed a few hours. No worries though, it was kind of relaxing.

Her sisters wedding was a really good time as well last weekend. I actually drank wine at the rehearsal dinner and liked it. That could be dangerous, as I used to refuse to drink it, but now have no qualms with it. Not my favorite beverage, but with no brewskies around it will do. At the reception, her brother and I got completely bombed. I only do it about twice a year, and that night happened to be one of them. We had(in no paticular order) gin and tonic, scotch on the rocks, shots of the devil's water(tequilla), screwdrivers, rum and coke, and multiple beers. That's what I can remember drinking, I'm told there was more. Mind you that all of this was consumed in about 4 hours. Surprisingly I wasn't that hung over the next day.

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but that's life....

Yamahama, it's fright night!

So I broke my cell phone on Sunday. Just got pissed when it dropped it's fifth call in 2 minutes and smashed it into the wall. Not one of my finer moments to be sure. And it cost me $60 to get it replaced on Monday. Having a VERY understanding wife is a great thing. I hate cell phones. Even though it cost me a little money, it felt SO good to destroy that thing. Out of spite, it rang from the trash can even though it was in 2 pieces. On top of that, Crate and Barrel hasn't delivered the $450 piece of furniture Kim, her brother, her sister and I bought for her other sisters wedding present. This despite the shipping company saying it was delivered on July 13th. Trying to track down what the hell happened to it has been quite a chore. I'm about to start building a bookcase myself. It'll be done before they find this one. All I have to do is make it through the week and Sunday we'll be on a plane to NC for a week on the beach. Kim's sister get married this weekend, so I'm sure there won't be any stress produced by that...

It's lewd, lascivious, salacious, outrageous!

We kicked some serious butts in sand volleyball last night. We beat them 3 games to 0. And we played the entire match one girl down because the girl that was supposed to play got lost and just gave up and went home. What the heck is that? Make a frickin' cell phone call and figure out where we are playing. No matter though, we played like champs. Kim is in her last week of graduate school which means she is uber-stressed. It's a little bit funny, but I am mostly just trying to cheer/build her up. She'll make it and get all A's like she always does. Overachiever. :) I think today might be the day that I shave off all my hair. Just getting sick of having it. I always do it once a year for a few months. Kim hates it and that's nothing but more motivation. And if I do it soon, it'll be shaved for her sister's wedding pictures. Her sister won't care, but her mom will FREAK OUT. At least I think she will. Guess I'll just have to do it and find out eh?

I miss the days when they made toys that could kill a kid.

Kim and I had a really fun weekend. On Friday we went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Brian, Ryan and Abby. Pretty entertaining movie, although it was hokey in a few spots. Not Brad Pitts best work, but it's definitely a solid rental. Saturday we spent pretty much the entire day up at Caesar's Creek on Kim and Jason's boat. Paul and Sue met us up there and we had a really cool time just kickin' it around the lake. It was pretty crowded when we first got there, but as the day wore on people started to leave and towards the end we were one of the only boats on the lake. My Kim loves to be out on a boat, so I know she had an especially good time. Yesterday Kim threw a wedding shower for her sister all day so I had nothing but free time on my hands. Went up to CHCA's open gym and scrimmaged against their varsity. It made me realize how old I'm getting. Damn those kids can get up and down a basketball court like I could when I was 17. Good time though and good work out. I'd like to think that I held my own and taught the youngbloods a few crafty tricks of the court. First sand volleyball game of the season tonight. We're probably going to get killed, but we'll at least we have a good team name. Weiner Boy Ian rules...

These are terrible. It's like trying to smoke a chicken bone.

We had the best Bible study we have had in a few months last night. People really seemed to be open to sharing what they thought and felt about what we were studying. Really cool and encouraging as a leader. I don't depend on that, but it's always nice when it happens. I know that God is there every week, but it's these kind of weeks that make it easier for my limited mind to really know He's there. The only thing bringing me down off that high is the fact that Kim "won" our argument and we are taking the later flight for our vacation. She feels guilty though, so I won in the sense. :) Seriously though, after thinking about it, taking the later flight was the best thing to do. And as Jason said, it gets less painful every time you lose an argument with your wife. Pretty soon as the man, you just give up putting up any fight at all. :) I think we are going to go see Mr. and Mrs. Smith tonight. I've heard it's good, but I'll reserve my judgement for later. Although I do have to say that Brad Pitt is one of my favorite actors. Fight Club and Seven are two great movies.

I gotta get on that Internet. I'm late on everything.

Not a whole lot to report. Just one big thing going on pretty much. Kim and I are in a little bit of an argument about when to leave to meet my family for vacation in a few weeks. The complication is that her sister's wedding is the weekend that we are supposed to leave. My family is getting down to NC on Saturday. US Airways called me to let me know that our Sunday 3pm flight was cancelled and I could pick another one that suited us. Her family is having brunch on Sunday(the wedding is Saturday) with her family that is coming in from California, so we had planned to leave late enough to make it to that. When that decision was made months ago, I didn't like it but just went with the flow as to not rock the familial boat. BUT now that we have a second chance and can take the noon flight on that Sunday, I really wish to do that. She wants to take the later 5pm flight and we have been going back and forth about it. Not like crazy fighting, but more of each of us trying to convince the other that we're right. I hate stuff like this. Each of us has good reasons to do what we think is the best thing. Eventually, one of us will give in and the one who gets their way will feel guilty. There never seems to be a way to make everybody happy all the time. Life would be so much simpler if everyone was happy all the time, but it would be far less interesting. :)

The jerk store called, they're running out of you!

So I have been really bad about blogging lately. No reason really, just haven't gotten around to it. Yesterday we hung out with Paul, Sonya, Jason and Kim up at Paul and Sonya's new house in Maineville. It really made me not want to live in an apartment anymore. Not that our apartment isn't nice, but a house would be much nicer. Saturday I had to work at the AVP event here in Cincy because MI was running the concessions. I hate that the just expect me to work on weekends sometimes and they don't even ask. They just tell. Bullshit. Friday we hung out with Justin and Jenn at their place. Just grilled out and relaxed. All in all I smoked my new pipe three times this weekend and have become fairly efficient at it. Short work week this week which is awesome...
