so kim and i finally got around to pricing and eventually buying a new couch and coffee table for the basement. when i say kim and i, i really mean me because i hate shopping and have been putting this off for quite some time. we bought that couch in the pic above, but without the lounge piece on the end(we opted for a regular end piece). this means that we'll finally be able to move the tv down there and have a nice area to entertain people(which kim loves to do). it's supposed to be delivered in the next few weeks, so hopefully they be able to get it into the basement without too much trouble. that's one more thing off the list of house stuff that we need to do. next up is landscaping for the backyard. good times....

kim and i are back from and awesome week in traverse city at her grandmas cottage. we had a great time with her parents and sister just hanging out and relaxing. there's just something about getting away from the big city and all the craziness that goes along with that. no cell phone, no internet, no places to be. just peace and quiet and a sky full of really bright stars at night. don't get me wrong, i love living in cincinnati, but getting away every once in a while is really nice.
we got to see the fireworks over the bay from a boat on the 4th and i even got out with her dad to play some golf. other than that it was taking the canoe, kayak, and paddle boat out on the lake during the day and having bonfires at night. if it wasn't 7 hours away, we'd head there more than once a summer for sure. this trip has definitely got me interested in buying some lake front property closer to us some time down the road...
